Job summary

EVT Group is seeking a talented Demi Chef to join the Rydges Esplanade Resort Cairns kitchen. You will deliver high-quality dishes for à la carte and room service in a fast-paced environment, rotating across sections as needed.

You will work with senior chefs to prioritise operations, maintain hygiene, and drive cost-effective cooking. EVT emphasizes teamwork, professional growth, and opportunities across its hotels and entertainment network.

Qualifications

• Demi Chef experience required in a busy kitchen.
• Ability to work across multiple kitchen sections.
• Strong hygiene and food safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver high-quality dishes across à la carte and room service.
• Confidently rotate across different sections of the kitchen as needed.
• Work closely with senior chefs to prioritise daily kitchen operations.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment at all times.
• Minimise waste and ensure cost-effective food preparation.
• Support training and development of junior kitchen staff.
• Step up to lead the section when required.
• Follow all standard operating procedures and WH&S guidelines.
• Contribute to a positive, professional, and collaborative team culture.
• Assist the conference & catering team with events as needed.
