Hamilton Island Enterprises on Hamilton Island (QLD) is seeking a Demi Chef for our Conventions & Events team. You will work across the island’s premier events, from weddings to conferences, preparing and presenting high-quality dishes in a fast-paced premium environment.

The role is full-time, on-island with rotating rosters to meet event needs. Ideal candidates have a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, 1–2 years in a busy kitchen, and a willingness to work mornings, evenings, weekends,

Responsabilidades

• Assist in food preparation across kitchen sections under senior chefs.
• Support high-volume production for events and large functions.
• Contribute to setup of BBQs, street food stations and off-site activations.
• Maintain cleanliness, food safety and quality throughout service.
• Rotate through stations to learn new skills and grow with the team.
• Help ensure smooth service and consistent output for each event.

Your Role

This is a full-time, permanent live-on-island position, with rotating rosters depending on event needs. You'll support the kitchen brigade in preparing and presenting quality food for a wide variety of events - from intimate beachfront weddings to large-scale corporate functions.

• Assist in high-volume food production for events, banquets, and special occasions
• Participate in event catering setups such as BBQs, street food stations, and off-site activations
• Uphold food safety, hygiene, and quality standards at all times
• Rotate through stations and learn new skills to grow in your culinary career
• Work with the team to maintain consistency and smooth service execution

To Be Successful, You Will Need

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (Essential)
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen environment
• Open manual Australian driver’s licence (Essential)
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Valid Australian working rights (minimum 6 months)
• Willingness to work rotating rosters including mornings, evenings, weekends, and event-based shifts
• High standards of cleanliness, grooming, and personal presentation
