Job summary

Alzheimers Queensland on the Gold Coast is seeking compassionate Dementia Respite Assistants to support clients in a centre-based respite setting and in the community. This casual role offers flexible shifts, with a focus on person-centred care and helping people stay connected and independent.

You will work across Arundel and surrounding suburbs, providing personal care, engaging activities and clear, compassionate communication within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting older people and those with dementia (community, respite, or residential).
• Certificate III in Aged Care, Individual Support, or similar.
• Strong communication skills and a kind, patient approach.
• Current First Aid & CPR.

Responsibilities

• Support frail aged clients and people living with dementia in a welcoming environment.
• Provide centre-based respite care.
• Build trusted relationships with clients and families.
• Encourage independence and participation in meaningful activities.
• Work with a supportive team to ensure each client has a good day.
• Provide personal care and daily living support.
• Assist with social support and community access.
• Prepare meals and light domestic assistance.
• Maintain clear communication and accurate documentation.
