Job summary

ARRCS is seeking a Personal Care Worker to join our Specialist Dementia Care Unit in the Northern Territory. You will provide safe, respectful and person-centred care to residents living with severe or advanced dementia, under the guidance of clinical staff.

You’ll assist with daily living, monitor wellbeing, and apply non-pharmacological strategies tailored to each resident. The role offers a fixed full-time schedule with 38 hours weekly and an hourly base rate with penalties for various shifts.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or above in Individual Support, Aged Care or Disability Care.
• Recent experience as a Personal Care Worker within aged care or disability services, ideally with dementia.
• HLTHPS006 - Assist Clients with Medication.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check lodged or received before commencement.
• CPR Certificate - Dated within 12 months.
• Current Influenza Vaccination.
• National Police Check dated within three months of commencement.
• BA Nursing students who have completed one or more years of undergraduate nursing study are exempt from the Certificate III requirement under the PD.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, respectful and person-centred care.
• Support residents with personal care, mobility, meals, exercise and activities of daily living.
• Encourage independence wherever it is safe and appropriate.
• Support people living with severe or advanced dementia and responsive behaviours using calm, respectful and person-centred approaches.
• Observe and report potential triggers, patterns and changes in responsive behaviours.
• Implement documented non-pharmacological strategies within individual care and behaviour support plans.
• Accurately document and report changes in residents' cognition, behaviour and wellbeing.
• Work within your scope of practice under the direction and delegation of a Registered Nurse.
• Support residents to participate in activities that promote engagement and wellbeing.
