Job description

Directed Electronics is one of Australia’s leading developers and distributors of innovative consumer and mobile electronics products. With over thirty brands and thousands of products sold both through major retailers and direct to the consumer, we create excitement, bring convenience, and add to quality of life for Australians.

Over the last few years, we have grown our brands and product range significantly and are poised for our biggest year to date as we expand into new categories. If you’re seeking to join a market leader offering opportunities for growth and a focus on your development and success, now is the time to join Directed!

About the role

Our Demand Planner manages inventory planning across relevant brands/SKUs within their portfolio for Directed in Australia and New Zealand. This is achieved by working closely with the sales team to ensure all retail sales channels’ stock demands are managed accurately, understanding all promo activity and seasonality so we can order stock to the correct levels, using analytics and trend analysis to ensure strong fill rate levels while minimising excess stock and avoiding stock‑out periods.

Meet your new team

Our Demand Planning team ensures product flow into the business aligns with the business sales plans, maximising stock turns while managing total stock level KPIs to prevent loss of sales. The team is composed of highly skilled, motivated, fun, strong communicators who support each other. You will join a growing team that continuously refines its approach and uses effective insights for forecasting.

How you will make an impact

Success in the Demand Planner role will be measured by achieving set KPIs around inventory levels, demand accuracy, fill rates, limiting stock-outs and maximising stock turns. This includes:

  • Maintaining accurate inventory forecast across all brands, completing monthly demand reviews, and examining forward 12‑month projections.
  • Developing and conducting regular demand review sessions with all Sales Managers and BDMs.
  • Responsibility for maintaining an accurate forecast across all brands.
  • Inventory planning for retailer promotional activity over the next 12 months.
  • Completing weekly order approvals across key stakeholders.
  • Maximising stock turns across key lines and minimizing potential lost sales.
  • Conducting monthly Sales and Demand Review meetings for all key stakeholders to review budget/demand/actuals and upcoming deliverables.
  • Completing continual aged/excess stock review and plans around clearance activity.
  • Implementing purchasing plans to move through EOL/obsolete inventory to avoid aged inventory SOH positions.
  • Managing communication with overseas key contacts and factories for supply planning.
  • Ensuring ETD/ETA listed against PO are managed to those dates and both factory/forwarders have provided all relevant documentation.

The successful candidate

We are looking for someone who has experience in a similar Demand & Supply planning role and shows a strong analytical mindset. Desired attributes include:

  • Minimum 5+ years in demand planning for multiple channels.
  • Demand planning for fast‑moving products regularly nearing EOL or superseded.
  • Managing an annual portfolio upwards of $20M.
  • Experience with forward 12‑month projections and inventory planning.
  • Strong data analytics skills and building reports for various departments.
  • Understanding of trend analysis and seasonality.
  • Exceptional communication skills and collaboration across sales, accounts, e‑commerce, DC/warehouse etc.
  • Expert knowledge of demand planning systems and MS Office.
  • Team player who shares ideas and learns from colleagues.
  • Interest in consumer electronics with evolving products and a growing range.
