Job summary

Soldier On in an Australian Defence context seeks a TAR Operator to ensure readiness of Defence Training Areas. You will coordinate with Associated Contractors, maintain target equipment, and manage safety and accessibility of Range Live Fire areas.

Responsibilities include planning target placement, inspections, audits, consumables, operating target systems such as DART, MTR, SMR, and handling off-road driving and minor repairs to keep training environments fit for use.

Qualifications

• Experience operating range target equipment and related safety protocols.
• Ability to coordinate with defence units and contractors.
• Experience in asset/ consumable stock management.
• Ability to perform minor repairs using Defence supply channels.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate contractor tasks for TAR range.
• Plan, place, test and recover Range Live Fire Target Equipment.
• Open/close TAR gates per live firing schedules.
• Maintain targets with Defence supplies and consumables.
• Perform non-technical inspections of equipment.
• Conduct audits and surveys as required.
• Ensure TAR readiness and weed management.
• Operate TAR target systems and related equipment.
• Inventory control and stock management.
• Use chainsaws for boundary repairs and signage.
• Operate off-road vehicles for TAR tasks.
