Job summary

Amazon Inc. in Canberra leads a Defence Solutions Architecture team to deliver cloud-based, secure solutions for Australian Defence. You will guide a high-performing team of senior solution architects, partner with Defence customers, and translate mission requirements into architecture that meets Essential Eight and IRAP standards.

This expert role combines hands-on customer engagement with strategic leadership to shape AWS investments for maximum impact within Defence programs.

Qualifications

• Experience managing a technical team of architects or similar roles.
• Experience building and operating cloud-based architectures.
• Familiarity with the Australian Defence Organisation and Defence Industrial Base.
• Working knowledge of Australian Government security policy including the Essential Eight and IRAP.

Responsibilities

• Build, grow, and develop a high-performing team of senior solutions architects, hiring and mentoring to grow capability.
• Set the strategic direction for the solutions architecture team and align AWS investment with Defence priorities.
• Lead as a player-coach, delivering directly to customers when necessary while guiding the team.
• Establish trusted relationships with senior Defence stakeholders and translate mission needs into secure, compliant cloud designs.
• Collaborate with account, service, and security teams to remove blockers and connect team work to AWS objectives.
• Define processes that enable the team to operate independently and continually improve outcomes.
