Job summary

Service Stream Limited's Defence division is recruiting Trades Assistants/Carpenters to support the PAS contract at RAAF Tindal in the Northern Territory. You will assist qualified tradespeople across construction, maintenance and general labour on defence bases, delivering carpentry and site works with safety as a priority.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience in construction or maintenance, basic tool use, and the ability to follow instructions in fast-paced environments.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in construction, maintenance, or industrial environment.
• Hands-on exposure to assisting tradespeople such as carpenters, electricians, plumbers, or landscapers.
• Familiarity with using basic hand and power tools.
• Experience performing manual labour tasks such as lifting, digging, or site clean-up.
• Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work safely on active job sites.
• Experience working as part of a team in fast-paced or physically demanding settings.
• White Card.

Responsibilities

• Assisting tradespeople with tasks such as measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing materials.
• Preparing and cleaning work areas, ensuring tools and equipment are ready for use.
• Performing general maintenance tasks including patching, painting, tiling, and minor plumbing work.
• Loading, transporting, and organising materials and supplies on-site.
• Operating basic hand and power tools under supervision.
• Performing general labouring duties including lifting, digging, and site clean-up.
• Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors.
