NVM Services is hiring a Full-time Deckhand role in Pyrmont, NSW. Apply now to be part of our team.

NVM Services is an established trawling company working in the Australian Fishing Zones, seeking full-time fishing industry positions, including Ships Master, Ships Engineer, Master Fisher, Ships Officer, Deckhands, Fishing Hands, and Seafood Processors.

Requirements for this role:
  • Flexible hours available

This company maintains a drug and alcohol-free workplace, and employees may be subject to random testing. You will be based in Pyrmont but may work in other locations as needed.

Positions and Requirements:
  • Ship’s Master: at least 5 years of relevant experience; must hold the appropriate license and have sea time of less than 5 years (subject to experience)
  • Ships Engineer (Fishing): at least 5 years of relevant experience; must hold the appropriate license
  • Master Fisher: at least 5 years of relevant experience; must hold the appropriate license
  • Ship’s Officer: at least 5 years of relevant experience; must hold the appropriate license
  • Fishing and Deckhands: at least 1 year's Australian work experience; sea-time or log book required
  • Seafood Processors: at least 2 years of experience; verifiable references required

For all positions, you must provide verifiable references and be physically strong, as the roles involve working on a deck in heavy seas and cramped spaces.

Salary and Benefits:
  • Ship’s Master: $120,000 or greater, subject to negotiation
  • Ships Engineer (Fishing): $72,000 to $82,000
  • Master Fisher: $75,000 to $82,000
  • Ship’s Officer: $72,000 to $82,000
  • Deck and Fishing Hands: $68,800 to in excess of $78,000
  • Seafood Processors: $68,800 to in excess of $78,000

All positions include government-regulated superannuation guarantee.

Seafood Processors’ Duties:
  • Unloading fresh seafood from vessels
  • Moving seafood to chillers, freezers, and live tanks
  • Sorting, dressing, and filleting fish
  • Loading seafood into trucks
  • Packing seafood into cartons
  • Inspecting and grading fish and shellfish
  • Operating machines for seafood processing
  • Cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areas
