Job summary

Approach Consulting Pty is seeking a Technical Lead specialized in DB2 for z/OS tools to drive a major tools-conversion program within a Federal Government environment. The role combines remote and onsite engagement with occasional travel to Canberra, leading a delivery team through design, testing and deployment.

You will guide architecture, validation, and risk management while delivering training and reporting across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience leading DB2 for z/OS tools-conversion initiatives.
• Strong expertise in DB2 for z/OS and subsystem architecture.
• Experience with DB2 utilities: Load, Copy, Recover, Merge/Modify.
• Proficient in SQL tuning and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of security, auditing and access-control requirements.
• Experience with backup, recovery and disaster-recovery processes.
• Familiarity with CA Log Analyzer for DB2 for z/OS.
• Experience with CA/Broadcom DB2 tools such as RC/Migrator, RC/Query, Detector.
• Experience with IBM DB2 Administration Tool, DB2 Automation Expert or DB2 Tools for z/OS.
• Practical use of Jira and ServiceNow.
• Strong ability to provide technical direction across a complex delivery program.

Responsibilities

• Review business and technical use cases.
• Lead validation for replacement of ISV tools.
• Support planning and implementation of DB2 tools for z/OS.
• Develop solution designs aligned with program requirements.
• Provide technical direction throughout conversion and deployment.
• Advise on testing strategy and approach.
• Contribute to implementation planning and production cutover.
• Assess impacts on people, processes and technology.
• Support risk and compliance activities.
• Participate in post-implementation reviews.
• Develop reporting and performance metrics.
• Deliver technical training related to the implemented tools.
