Job summary

WSP is seeking a Data Scientist with strong data engineering skills to take projects from raw sources to production-ready data products and ML solutions. This is not a purely research role; you will own technical delivery and bridge data engineering, analytics and operationalised AI.

You’ll design, build and deploy scalable data and ML solutions for infrastructure clients, collaborating across transport, water, energy, and environmental projects.

Qualifications

• Strong Python development skills with software engineering best practices.
• Advanced SQL skills with optimization and data modelling.
• Production experience with cloud data platforms: Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Services, AWS.
• Experience with modern transformation/orchestration tools: dbt, Airflow, Azure Data Factory.
• Solid statistics and machine learning knowledge: regression, classification, forecasting, validation.
• Experience operationalising data products and ML models in production.
• Exposure to large, complex operational datasets from multiple sources.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy scalable data and ML solutions for infrastructure clients.
• Create ingestion pipelines from client sources into cloud platforms.
• Develop layered data architectures and production-ready data models.
• Build, validate and deploy ML models; monitor production systems.
• Establish CI/CD, secrets management and automation for data pipelines.
• Deliver end-to-end projects from discovery to client handover.
• Support business development with technical input on proposals and bids.
• Collaborate across transport, water, energy, defence and environment projects.
