Job summary

Equifax is seeking a Data Scientist to manipulate large datasets and integrate diverse sources into deployable solutions. You will translate requests into outputs such as visuals, dashboards, and training data sets under guidance.

The role involves building analytical approaches, communicating findings, and creating visualization-ready outputs for internal stakeholders and clients.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a STEM major or equivalent discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in a related analytical role, including experience with the design and development of predictive models.
• Cloud certification strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience writing SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation.
• Hands-on experience developing business intelligence reports and dashboards using Tableau.
• Demonstrated experience applying statistical analysis techniques to commercial or marketing datasets.

Work Location - Melbourne/ Sydney & Brisbane

As a Data Scientist, you will have the opportunity to manipulate large data sets, integrate diverse data sources, data types and data structures into solutions under management guidance. You will build experience developing analytical approaches to meet business requirements, which involves translating requests into a variety of outputs including visuals, dashboards, use cases, test cases, preparation of training data sets and iterative algorithm development.

What you will do

• Utilize combined knowledge of data structures, analytics, algorithms/models, and strong computer science fundamentals to prepare datasets, conduct analytics, and develop deployable solutions with guidance from more senior resources
• Leverage knowledge of data structures and algorithms to analyze and prepare data for analysis, assembling data from standard and new data sources
• Able to analyze and prepare complex and new data sources and incorporate them into analytical solutions.
• Works on moderate complexity tasks in problems often within multiple business or analytical domains, collaborating with other teams to develop predictive models, risk assessments, fraud detection, recommendation engines, etc.
• Package, summarize and visualize analytical findings and results for management
• Create eye catching and informative presentation-ready visualizations and analyses for internal or external clients using Spotfire and/or other open source visualization technologies.
• Build wireframes and mockups of dashboards and reports as needed to communicate visualization/functionality internally and to clients

What experience you need

• 2+ years of experience in a related analytical role, including experience with the design and development of predictive models

What could set you apart

• Master’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Computer Science , Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics or other related discipline a definite plus
• Hands‑on technical experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or cloud data environments.
• Advanced proficiency in analytical programming languages such as Python, R, Hive, Impala, or Spark.
• Practical experience working with alternative BI tools like Tableau or Spotfire.
• Proven background in data journalism or communicating complex data stories to diverse audiences.
