Job description

Data Scientist
  • 6-month contract with potential extension

Our client is seeking a talented and inquisitive Data Scientist with a strong foundation in statistics to join their People Data & Insights team. Reporting to the Principal Data Scientist, you will play a key role in applying advanced statistical modelling, hypothesis testing, and data-driven techniques to design and implement innovative solutions that inform strategic workforce decisions. This is a unique opportunity to operate at the intersection of statistics, technology, and human behaviour in a collaborative, high-impact environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop predictive models and algorithms using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to support people-related insights and decision-making.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis, hypothesis testing, and feature engineering across diverse Human Resources datasets.
  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines from source systems through to model deployment.
  • Translate analytical outcomes into actionable insights and communicate findings through engaging visualisations and reports.
  • Share knowledge and support capability uplift across the team by mentoring, documentation, and training on analytics tools and techniques.

Key Skills & Experience:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline with strong coding skills in Python, R, and/or SQL.
  • Proven experience delivering end-to-end data science projects, ideally involving workforce or behavioural data.
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning methods (e.g. regression, clustering, classification), and relevant algorithm implementation.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
