Job summary

The University of Newcastle invites applications for a Lecturer in Data Science and Statistics at Callaghan Campus. You will contribute to high-quality teaching and research, developing an emerging research profile in Statistics and Data Science, and delivering innovative teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

You will build an independent research program, collaborate across disciplines, supervise research students, and contribute to strategic priorities in AI, cybersecurity

Qualifications

• PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent relevant field.
• Strong publication record relative to opportunity.
• Ability to be a highly effective teacher in a tertiary environment, with experience teaching Statistics and Data Science at university level.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise research students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct impactful research to attract industry/government funding.

Responsibilities

• Teach and develop undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Data Science and Statistics.
• Develop an independent research program and contribute to strategic priorities (AI, cybersecurity, advanced computing).
• Supervise research students and collaborate across disciplines.
• Engage with industry/government for potential funding and partnerships.
