Job summary
Optiver’s Sydney office seeks a data reliability engineer to ensure trusted, high-quality data pipelines at scale. You will sit at the intersection of data engineering, operations and market data, monitoring critical systems and building automation to prevent issues that could affect trading or research.
You will design tests, investigate incidents, apply SRE principles, and collaborate with data teams to align reliability with business priorities in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
Qualifications
- Experience with data pipelines and data reliability.
- Exposure to cloud data systems and distributed data platforms.
- Familiarity with monitoring/alerting tools.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and optimize the performance and stability of data pipelines to meet SLAs.
- Design and maintain data quality tests for accuracy, consistency and completeness.
- Investigate data incidents, perform root-cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
- Apply SRE principles to enhance reliability, alerting and recovery mechanisms.
- Develop automation and tooling to reduce manual intervention and improve scalability.
- Collaborate with data engineers, researchers and market data teams to align reliability goals with business priorities.
