Data Protection Manager
The opportunity

As our Data Protection Manager, you’ll support the implementation and ongoing operation of EY Oceania’s Data Protection Program, helping embed consistent behaviours and ways of working that enable the trusted, responsible and permitted use of data across EY. You’ll provide practical, risk-based advice to help the business identify and manage data related risks, while contributing to broader data risk and enablement initiatives that strengthen trust, confidence and accountability across the organisation.

This is a hybrid position based in Naarm – Melbourne, Boorloo – Perth, Meanjin – Brisbane or Warrang – Sydney. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Provide practical, risk-based data protection advice and respond to privacy and data protection queries across Service Lines, Functions and project teams, including advice relating to business initiatives, AI use and data-handling activities.
  • Support the response to data incidents, including triage, risk assessment, stakeholder coordination and escalation, while identifying opportunities to strengthen controls and processes.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing administration of EY’s Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Program and deliver key data-risk projects, including client‑specific initiatives, controls, resources and training.
Skills And Attributes For Success
  • 5+ years’ experience in technology risk, data privacy or data protection, gained in‑house or within a professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting data incident response and providing practical data protection advice on business initiatives, AI use and technology implementations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, coupled with excellent relationship and interpersonal skills and an inclusive, flexible approach.

Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Risk Management or Data Governance.
  • Qualifications in privacy (CIPM), AI governance (AIGP), risk or compliance would be advantageous.
  • Practical knowledge of data and AI, including governance, risk considerations and responsible use.
