Job description

Some roles drive outcomes through direct delivery. Others make it possible for an entire function to perform at its best.

This newly created Data Operations Lead opportunity sits alongside the Chief Data Officer and plays a pivotal role in coordinating the priorities, commitments and governance activities that keep the Data, Analytics and AI function running effectively. While the title includes "Data Operations", this is not a technical data role.

Instead, you'll act as the operational right hand to the Chief Data Officer, bringing structure, visibility and accountability across a broad portfolio of work. You'll work closely with senior leaders, helping turn priorities into action, removing roadblocks, tracking commitments and ensuring the leadership team has clear visibility of delivery, risks and dependencies.

If you've worked as a Business Manager, Chief of Staff, PMO Lead, Program Operations Manager or within a senior executive office environment, this could be an opportunity to apply your strengths in a highly visible and influential role.

Why this role matters

This is a rare opportunity to work at the centre of a strategically important function, partnering directly with executive leadership and contributing to the effectiveness of the broader organisation.

  • Build and establish the operating rhythm of a growing function
  • Partner closely with senior executives and leadership teams
  • Influence outcomes across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Create clarity and momentum in a complex environment
  • Gain exposure to enterprise-wide initiatives and decision making
  • Shape how priorities, risks and commitments are managed across the function
What you'll do
  • Act as a trusted operational partner to the Chief Data Officer, supporting priorities, decision making and leadership effectiveness
  • Coordinate leadership forums, governance activities and executive reporting processes
  • Maintain visibility across priorities, commitments, risks, dependencies and delivery progress
  • Track actions and outcomes, ensuring commitments are followed through and escalated where required
  • Partner with leaders across business, technology and risk functions to resolve issues and keep work moving forward
  • Identify opportunities to improve operating rhythms, ways of working, reporting and team effectiveness
What you’ll bring

You’ll be someone who thrives in complex environments, enjoys creating structure and can confidently engage with senior stakeholders to drive outcomes.

  • Experience in a Business Manager, Chief of Staff, Executive Office, PMO, Program Operations or similar role
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior executives or leadership teams within a complex organisation
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Strong organisational capability with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Experience coordinating executive forums, governance activities, actions, risks and dependencies
  • Strong written communication skills, including preparation of executive and board-level materials
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and maintain confidentiality
  • A focus on business outcomes, accountability and continuous improvement
Nice to have
  • Financial services experience
  • Exposure to data, analytics, technology or transformation functions
  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide change or transformation initiatives
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, management, commerce or a related discipline
