Praemium Limited in Melbourne is seeking a Data Management Lead to establish and embed the data management framework across the organisation. This hands-on role will drive governance, privacy, quality and information handling, while engaging stakeholders to mature the capability.

The role is a greenfield opportunity with potential growth as the capability matures, requiring collaboration with Risk, Compliance and Technology. Hybrid work arrangements are available.

• Experience establishing or uplifting data governance capability.
• Experience in financial services or regulated environments.
• Strong understanding of data governance, risk, privacy and regulatory requirements.
• Experience developing policies, standards, controls and governance documentation.
• Experience addressing audit findings and establishing sustainable controls.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.

Responsabilités

• Establish and operationalise the Data Management Framework, policies, standards and governance processes.
• Assess data management maturity and develop a practical roadmap for improvement.
• Address audit findings, data risks and control gaps.
• Develop practical policies, standards, procedures, registers and governance documentation.
• Strengthen data retention, classification, privacy, quality and information-handling practices.
• Establish clear data ownership and stewardship responsibilities.
• Develop governance guardrails to support responsible AI adoption.
• Partner with Technology and Cyber Security on data controls and tooling, including DLP.
• Work with Risk, Compliance and Privacy to respond to regulatory requirements.
• Build adoption through stakeholder engagement, workshops, training and practical support.

We’re looking for a Data Management Lead to establish and embed Praemium’s data management framework and strengthen how we govern, protect and use data across the organisation.

This is a hands‑on individual contributor role with no direct reports. You’ll personally establish the foundations while leading through expertise, influence and stakeholder engagement. As our data management capability matures, there may be an opportunity for the role and team to grow.

This is a genuine greenfield opportunity. You’ll assess where we are today, determine what good looks like for an organisation of our size and regulatory environment, and implement practical solutions that address our key risks and priorities.

What You’ll Do

• Establish and operationalise our Data Management Framework, policies, standards and governance processes.

About You

You’re someone who can investigate, consult, recommend and then roll up your sleeves to implement.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Experience establishing or significantly uplifting data management or data governance capability.
• Experience in financial services or a similarly regulated industry.
• Strong understanding of data governance, risk, privacy and regulatory requirements.
• Experience developing policies, standards, controls and governance documentation.
• Experience addressing audit findings and establishing sustainable controls.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• A practical, proportionate approach to governance.
• Enough technical understanding to work effectively with Technology and Cyber Security, without needing to be a data engineer or analyst.
• The ability to work independently and build capability from the ground up.
