Job summary

BYD Australia & New Zealand is seeking a data engineering professional based at our Mulgrave office to develop and optimise BYD’s big data platforms, data warehouse and BI solutions. The role sits in the Headquarters Digital Solution Centre and collaborates with the local IT team on end-to-end data projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in big data development, data engineering or BI with end-to-end projects.
• Strong knowledge of big data technologies and SQL, data warehousing and ETL.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise big data platforms, including ETL processes for data extraction, cleansing, transformation and loading.
• Design and develop data warehouse models and architectures to support reporting and analysis.
• Develop and deliver complex reports, dashboards and data visualisations using FineReport and FineBI.
• Participate in big data application development and data analysis based on business requirements.
• Optimize data storage and processing performance to improve system efficiency, stability and scalability.

About The Role

Based at BYD’s Mulgrave office, this role will be part of our Headquarters Digital Solution Centre and work closely with the local IT team. This is a fixed-term contract position with the potential to transition to a permanent role.

The position will be responsible for the development and optimisation of BYD’s big data platforms, data warehouse and BI solutions. This includes designing and implementing ETL processes, developing data models and data warehouse architectures, and delivering business reports, dashboards and data visualisations using FineReport and FineBI.

The role will work closely with business and IT teams to support data analysis, identify business insights, and deliver reliable and scalable data solutions that support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise big data platforms, including designing and implementing ETL processes for data extraction, cleansing, transformation and loading.
• Design and develop data warehouse models and architectures to support business reporting and analysis.
• Develop and deliver complex reports, dashboards and data visualisations using FineReport and FineBI.
• Participate in big data application development and perform data analysis and mining based on business requirements.
• Optimise data storage and processing performance to improve system efficiency, stability and scalability.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline. Equivalent relevant industry experience will also be considered.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in big data development, data engineering or BI, with experience working on end-to-end data projects.
• Strong knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive or HBase, with experience in large-scale data processing.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL or SQL Server, including SQL performance tuning.
• Good understanding of data warehousing, data modelling, ETL development and OLAP analysis.
• Hands-on experience with FineReport and/or FineBI, with experience delivering reporting or BI projects from requirements through to implementation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand business requirements, communicate with stakeholders and produce clear technical documentation.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with local and overseas IT teams.
• Experience in data warehouse development, user profiling or AI-related data applications is an advantage.
