Job summary

Synechron seeks an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design and optimize scalable data platforms supporting analytics and AI initiatives. You will build cloud-based solutions on AWS with Snowflake, dbt, Python and SQL, driving ETL/ELT pipelines and robust data governance.

In this role you’ll modernize data architecture, implement data models, and orchestrate workflows with Airflow, while collaborating with analytics, business and engineering teams in a financial services context.

Qualifications

• Experience with AWS data engineering and cloud data platforms.
• Hands-on with AWS Glue, EMR, Lake Formation and Redshift.
• Proficient in Python and SQL; strong Snowflake skills.
• Experience with dbt and data modeling; ETL/ELT expertise.
• Knowledge of data governance, security and access management.
• Experience in financial services domain and Agile delivery.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable data platforms that support analytics, reporting, and AI-driven initiatives. This role will be responsible for developing cloud-based data solutions using AWS, Snowflake, dbt, Python, and SQL, while enabling business outcomes across the financial services and debt management domain.

The successful candidate will play a key role in modernizing data architecture, building robust ETL/ELT pipelines, and supporting advanced analytics and Generative AI use cases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using AWS services.
• Build and manage enterprise data lake and data warehouse solutions.
• Develop ETL/ELT processes using Python, SQL, AWS Glue, and dbt.
• Implement and optimize data models within Snowflake.
• Develop and orchestrate workflows using Apache Airflow.
• Leverage AWS services including Glue, EMR, Athena, Lake Formation, and Redshift.
• Ensure data quality, governance, security, and compliance standards are met.
• Collaborate with business, analytics, and engineering teams to deliver data solutions.
• Support AI and Generative AI initiatives, including integration with LLM platforms such as Claude.
• Optimize performance and cost efficiency across AWS and Snowflake environments.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and best practices for data engineering.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong experience in AWS Data Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with: AWS Glue
• EMR
• Lake Formation
• Redshift
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Extensive experience with Snowflake Data Warehouse.
• Experience with dbt (Data Build Tool).
• Strong understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT frameworks, and data architecture.
• Experience building and supporting cloud-native data platforms.
• Knowledge of data governance, security, and access management.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
• Experience within Financial Services, Banking, or Debt/Collections domains.
• Exposure to AI/Generative AI solutions.
• Experience working with Claude or other Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Knowledge of data lake architecture and modern data platforms.
• Experience with CI/CD and DataOps practices.
