Job summary

Davidson Technology is recruiting a Data Engineer and Report Developer to enhance Enterprise Data Warehouse environments and deliver Power BI reporting solutions.

You will design and implement ETL processes across SQL Server and Microsoft Fabric, develop scalable data models and dashboards, and establish CI/CD pipelines to enable repeatable deployment. Collaboration with business SMEs will be essential.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, developing and supporting enterprise DW/BI solutions using MS SQL Server suite.

About the Company

Davidson Technology are working with a large State Government Department to secure a Data Engineer and Report Developer to enhance, maintain and optimise complex enterprise Data Warehouse environments across the Department.

About the Role

As the Data Engineer and Report Developer, you will be responsible for enhancing, maintaining and optimising complex enterprise Data Warehouse environments while delivering high-quality Power BI reporting solutions aligned with business requirements. You will analyse, define and document data and reporting requirements, design and develop robust ETL processes across SQL Server and Microsoft Fabric, and proactively investigate and improve data pipeline and report performance. You will design and implement scalable semantic models and operational data stores that support reliable analytics and informed decision-making, while developing intuitive and effective Power BI reports and dashboards. You will also establish and maintain Microsoft DevOps CI/CD deployment pipelines to enable controlled, automated and repeatable solution delivery. Drawing on your expertise in contemporary business intelligence, data engineering and reporting practices, you will provide specialist technical advice to stakeholders and contribute to the delivery of secure, maintainable and high-performing enterprise data and analytics solutions.

About You

As an experienced Data Engineer and Report Developer, you will bring advanced expertise in designing, developing and supporting enterprise Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions using the Microsoft SQL Server suite, including SSAS, SSIS and SSRS, together with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. You will have extensive experience developing ETL workflows, data mappings and scalable data warehouse solutions, supported by a strong understanding of conceptual, logical and physical data modelling and the ability to reverse-engineer existing data structures into BI-aligned data models. You will apply high-level report design and development skills and contemporary best practices to deliver accurate, intuitive and business-focused reporting solutions. Working closely with business SMEs and stakeholder groups, you will effectively gather, analyse and refine complex requirements, understand key business needs and drivers, and provide informed advice on appropriate data and reporting solutions. Your excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills, combined with well-developed interpersonal and relationship management capabilities, will enable you to translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes and deliver high-quality data and analytics solutions that meet organisational needs.

You will be offered a 12-month contract with possible extension on an excellent hourly rate and the ability to negotiate a flexible working arrangement for the duration of the assignment.
