About the Role This is a key opportunity for an experienced
Data Engineer to lead the development of modern data platforms using
Microsoft Data Fabric and Azure services. You'll design scalable pipelines, shape data architecture, and support analytics, machine learning, and AI initiatives. Collaborating across data, BI, governance and product teams, your work will directly enhance decision-making and business performance.
What you’ll do- Build, maintain and optimise data pipelines using Azure Data Fabric, Synapse, and Data Factory
- Develop ETL/ELT processes, integrating external data sources into a medallion architecture
- Design future-state data models aligned to business and AI needs
- Support machine learning initiatives, building datasets and optimising data workflows
- Implement data governance practices and ensure compliance with security standards
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and BI developers to deliver actionable insights
- Document technical decisions, data flows and system processes to ensure transparency
- Champion innovation through AI integration and product enhancement initiatives
What you’ll bring- 5+ years in a Data Engineer or similar role, ideally in an Azure environment
- Deep expertise in Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks and Python/SQL
- Solid knowledge of medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold), data lakes and lakehouse patterns
- Hands-on experience supporting analytics, Power BI, and ML model deployment
- Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance (e.g. GDPR, HIPAA)
- Strong documentation and collaboration skills across business and technical teams
Nice to have- Microsoft certifications (DP-203, AZ-305, AI-102)
- Experience with Azure ML, Cognitive Services, OpenAI or Generative AI
- Familiarity with Microsoft Purview and big data technologies (Spark, Delta Lake)
