Job summary

Peoplebank in Brisbane CBD is seeking a Data Engineer to enhance and maintain a complex Data Warehouse and build Power BI reporting solutions for a government client.

You will partner with business SMEs to analyse reporting needs, deliver ETL across SQL Server and Fabric, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines with Microsoft DevOps.

Qualifications

• Experience with SQL Server BI stack in a data warehouse/BI environment.
• Hands-on ETL development and data mapping experience.
• Experience with Power BI end-to-end report development.
• Experience with stakeholder engagement with business SMEs.

We are seeking a Data Engineer to enhance and maintain a complex Data Warehouse environment and build Power BI reporting solutions aligned to business requirements for a government client in Brisbane.

This role will partner closely with business SMEs to analyse and document reporting/data needs, deliver ETL development across SQL Server and Microsoft Fabric, and uplift performance across ETL and reporting.

You will also design and implement semantic models and operational data stores and contribute to modern engineering practices including CI/CD deployment pipelines using Microsoft DevOps.

Required Skills

• Microsoft SQL Server BI stack: strong hands‑on experience with SSIS / SSAS / SSRS in a data warehouse/BI environment


• Microsoft Fabric: hands‑on ETL/data engineering experience using MS Fabric tools/services


• ETL engineering: proven build experience designing and developing ETL workflows and data mapping (incl. troubleshooting and performance uplift)


• Power BI: strong capability to develop reports to business requirements (end‑to‑end build)


• Requirements & stakeholder engagement: demonstrated experience working with business SMEs to gather, refine, and translate reporting/data requirements
