Job summary

Sime Industrial is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our Digital Technology Team in Archerfield. You will design, build and enhance data solutions to enable trusted insights across the business and support the transition to a modern analytics environment.

Work with stakeholders and technical teams, contributing to best-practice data engineering and helping drive technical decisions while growing your own capability and career.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or IT required; Microsoft data/analytics certs (Fabric, Azure, BI) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to data platform design and architecture across the Unified Data Platform, including Microsoft Fabric migration and Denodo solution design.
• Design, build and optimise data pipelines and analytics components to deliver trustworthy insights.
• Support platform performance, stability, monitoring, incidents, deployments and BAU activities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.

Reporting to the Manager - Data Enablement, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the growth of our enterprise data platform and support the transition to a modern analytics environment. What you’ll be doing:

As a Data Engineer at Sime Industrial, you will:

• Contribute to the data platform design & architecture across the Unified Data Platform, including Microsoft Fabric migration, AX ERP data modelling, and Denodo solution design, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
• Assist the delivery of high-quality data solutions by designing, building and optimising data pipelines and analytics components, applying best practices, testing and data engineering.
• Support platform performance & stability, including monitoring, incident management, deployments and ongoing BAU support.
• Support the delivery & stakeholder outcomes through sprint planning, managing backlogs, and partnering with internal teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

What you’ll need:

• A degree in Computer Science or IT is essential; Microsoft data/analytics certifications (Fabric, Azure, BI) would be highly regarded.
• Data engineering experience (3 years ideal) across Microsoft technologies, including Power BI, data warehousing, modelling, and performance optimisation.
• Proven technical leadership delivering end-to-end data solutions on modern cloud platforms, with experience mentoring engineers and working in agile, enterprise environments.
• Well-rounded stakeholder and governance capability, including ERP data exposure, strong business engagement skills, and experience supporting data governance, access controls and audit requirements.
