Job summary

Securitas Australia is seeking Security Officers for full-time roles at Canberra locations (Mitchell & CBD). Roles include rotating day/night shifts, on-site patrols, and visitor management in a data-centre environment. The team values safety, customer service, and professional conduct.

These full-time positions require NV1 clearance, Australian citizenship, and a valid security license. You will work in a diverse, collaborative environment with ongoing training and career progression

Qualifications

• Must have AGSVA NV1 clearance.
• Experience using IT systems for security access and control.
• Australian Citizenship with full working rights in ACT.
• Hold a valid Security License (Class 1A or equivalent).
• Excellent communication and observational skills.
• Strong customer service experience with multi-tasking abilities.
• Conflict resolution and negotiation skills; intermediate PC skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct security patrols of facility to prevent unauthorised access and suspicious activity.
• Screen personnel entering and exiting restricted areas.
• Monitor alarms and security systems; respond to incidents.
• Serve as first responder to incidents and provide First Aid as needed.
• Manage keys, access control and visitor management systems.
• Identify prohibited items and prevent entry to restricted areas.
• Provide shift reports and handover to supervisor.
• Perform on-foot and CCTV patrols and report hazards.

About the Role

We are excited to partner with an ASX 100-listed technology company, offering innovative data centre outsourcing solutions. Our security team is essential in maintaining data integrity and providing exceptional customer service as the first point of contact for visitors and contractors.

We have multiple full time positions available.
Locations: Mitchell & CBD, Canberra

CBD - Full Time – 4 on 4 off Rotational Day and Night Shift role.

Mitchell - Roster: Full-time position working a rotating 3 on, 2 off / 2 on, 2 off roster. The first fortnight consists of day shifts, followed by the second fortnight consisting of night shifts.

Desired Skills And Experience

The Security Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

• Conduct various security patrols of facility to prevent unathorised access or suspicious activity including : Physical patrols ,Video patrols, Nightly full site video patrols & Buddy Patrols.
• Conduct security screening of all personnel entering and exiting a restricted area
• Monitor facility alarms and security system Class 5 alarms, Security portal resets, Duress alarms ,Investigating and responding to alarms.
• First responders to the incident and emergency management including First Aid
• Management of keys/cards, Access Control System and Visitor Management Systems
• Identify prohibited items and prevent them from being introduced to or removed from a restricted area
• Provide complete and accurate shift reports and task handover to Customer Service & Security Supervisor
• Physical (on foot) and Virtual (on CCTV) patrols of assigned areas and report hazards and incidents

What We’re Looking For

• Must have AGSVA NV1 Clearance.
• Experience using IT systems for security access and control
• Must be an Australian Citizen with full working rights in the respective state
• Hold a valid Security License (Class 1A or equivalent)
• Excellent communication and observational skills
• Strong customer service experience with multi-tasking abilities
• Conflict resolution, negotiation skills, and intermediate PC skills (MS Suite)
• Exceptional customer service standards, greeting visitors and assisting as needed
• Compliance with company policies and procedures
• Experience in report writing, site patrol duties, and communication via two-way radio
• Must be punctual, responsible, and lead by example, supporting a safety and compliance culture
