Job summary

Viasat in Melbourne is seeking a Data Center Technician to manage the physical footprint within multi-tenant colocation facilities, ensuring asset accuracy, world-class cabling standards, and coordination with facility providers.

You will maintain the Digital Twin of our environment using DCIM tools while serving as the main on-site contact for all cage-related activities and travel to local DCs as needed.

Qualifications

• 5 years' of experience working in Data Center environment as a technician overseeing the operations of the data center.
• Tools: Direct experience with Patch Manager, NetBox, or similar DCIM platforms is required.
• Standards: Knowledge of cabling standards and data center best practices.

Responsibilities

• Cage Standards & Physical Infrastructure: Deploy cabling, maintain 100% labeling, and manage cabling with neat organization.
• DCIM: Maintain 100% accuracy, plan moves/adds/changes, and map all cable paths.
• Colocation Etiquette & Vendor Liaison: Coordinate shipping/receiving, act as on-site liaison with facility teams, and manage Remote Hands.
• Technical Execution (L1/L2): Rack, unbox, inspect, and cable servers; perform break-fix and fiber testing.
