Job summary

Amazon Web Services in Melbourne seeks a Data Center IT Support Engineer to install and troubleshoot infrastructure supporting the AWS cloud. The role involves hands-on hardware and networking tasks, working with logistics teams to maintain daily operations and responding to a variety of challenges in large-scale data centers.

This position features rotating shifts (4 days on, 4 days off, including nights) and requires lifting/racking equipment as well as adhering to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
• 1+ years of computer networking experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and own vehicle to travel between sites.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Escalation point and technical troubleshooter for all Systems and problems.
• Deep dive into Linux server issues.
• Remediation of physical layer outages, both Systems and Network.
• Remediation or recovery of physical power issues on racks and participation in data center power & cooling events.
• Shift work (4 days on and 4 days off including night shifts on a rotational basis).
• Install and configure racks of hosts in line with internal SLAs.
• Triage and resolve trouble tickets for all devices in your region.
• Physical replacement of server and network device parts.
• Ensure correct rotation of parts and spares.
• Enforcing Amazons Security Best Practices.
• Interact with third party vendors and contractors.
• Engage with Remote Hands and Eyes in EU Regional Cloudfront POPs.
• This position also has a physical component requiring the ability to lift and rack equipment.
• It may require working in cramped spaces or elevated locations while adhering to health and safety guidelines.
