Job summary

CareCone Group is seeking an accomplished Senior Data Architect in Sydney to lead the data architecture and governance strategy. You will shape the data platform, pipelines, and BI capabilities, ensuring scalable, reusable solutions through ARB governance and alignment with business goals.

The role requires 10+ years in data/solution architecture and hands-on experience with data warehouses, streaming platforms and orchestration tools. Telecommunication sector exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in data/solution architecture and data engineering.
• Strong experience building and maintaining data warehouses (Redshift, Teradata).
• Experience with data catalogue and governance tools.
• Experience with data streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis).
• Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster).
• Understanding of Data Mesh and Data Product concepts.
• Telecommunication industry experience.
• Exposure to Terraform infrastructure code.

Responsibilities

• Define and design the overall data modelling design, data architecture, strategy, data governance and data capabilities roadmap that are aligned with our technology direction.
• Define and design the data platforms, tools and governing processes.
• Create, maintain and communicate go-forward strategies for business intelligence capabilities and tools.
• Ensure data solution and data product architecture design progress through governance (ARB) in line with project timelines.
• Define and review data solutions for re-usability, scalability and alignment to best practices.
• Evolve data technology roadmap to match evolving business needs.
• Improve integration with other enterprise solutions and define best practices.
• Participate in planning, estimation, and dependency management with Project Managers.
• Lead workshops and drive architecture design outputs with stakeholders.
• Demonstrate mastery of architecture techniques and collaboration with senior leaders.

Job description

• Define and design the overall data modelling design, data architecture, strategy, data governance and data capabilities roadmap that are consistent with our technology direction.
• Define and design the data platforms, tools and governing process
• Create, maintain and communicate go-forward strategies for business intelligence capabilities and tools.
• Responsible and accountable for producing the data solution and data product architecture design ensuring that they are submitted and progress via the prescribed governance process through to approval (ARB) in a timely manner aligned with project prescribed timelines.
• Define and review data solutions for re-usability, scalability, synergy opportunities and alignment to defined best practice and guidelines
• Create and evolve data technology roadmap, to align with continuously evolving business needs.
• Help defining and improving best practices, guidelines, and integration with other enterprise solutions.
• Participates in planning, dependency identification, and management as well as estimation with Project Managers.
• Leads Work Breakdown identification and workshops utilising Architecture designs as input
• Demonstrated grasp of Architecture techniques and ability to work effectively with senior business stakeholders and initiative owners.
• Act as Technology advisors on data to business leaders and strategic leaders on technology direction.

Key Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

Domain Expertise

• 10 years+ of professional experience in data/solution architecture & data engineering. Demonstrating a high degree of proficiency in designing and developing complex, high quality data modelling, data solutions and defining the best practices and governance guidelines.
• Strong experience and Skills in developing and maintaining data warehouses in big data solutions (e.g. Redshift, Teradata)
• Experience with data catalogue and data governance tools.
• Experience with data streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka/Kinesis)
• Familiarity with operational orchestration platforms (e.g., Airflow, Dagster)
• Understanding of Data Mesh and Data Product concepts
• Telecommunication Industry experience
• Conceptual knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
• Exposure to machine learning, reporting, data sharing, data intensive application-oriented use cases
• Extensive experience in consulting with business stakeholders and other user groups to deliver both strategic and tactical information management solutions
