Job summary

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in data analytics, performance reporting and dashboard development (banking, financial services or customer engagement analytics preferred).
• Strong SQL skills, including building reliable data pipelines and reconciling multiple data sources.
• Experience in data visualisation and dashboarding (Power BI/Tableau/Qlik), including report publishing and governance practices.

• Update and maintain reporting dashboards, including data refresh processes, model and logic updates, and reporting views.
• Ingest, reconcile and transform payments partner and bank data sources into analysis-ready datasets.
• Cleanse, map and segment customer data to support targeting, migration readiness and portfolio initiatives.
• Ensure data quality through validation checks, issue triage and clear documentation of definitions and methodology.
• Track and report performance KPIs and portfolio outcomes, identifying drivers and opportunities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business questions into dashboard requirements and prioritized enhancements.
• Produce concise business updates and insight packs to support decision-making.

About the Role:

You’ll join the implementation services team of a global payments technology company. The team works as squads embedded on client sites, running long-term engagements with card issuers, acquirers and merchants across strategy, proposition development, loyalty, operational improvement, customer engagement and profitability.

This squad is embedded inside one of Australia's Big 4 banks. As Data Analyst, you’ll support the bank's deposits and transaction banking strategy, working out where the best customer engagement opportunities are and which ones to go after first.

What will your day look like?

You’ll maintain and improve reporting dashboards built on the bank's data, and prepare, cleanse and segment customer datasets to support broader analytics and delivery work. You’ll work independently to turn business questions into clear analysis and dashboard requirements, so decisions on deposit growth, account engagement and customer activation are based on accurate, timely insight. You’ll also:

• Ingest, reconcile and transform payments partner and bank data sources into consistent, analysis-ready datasets and measures.
• Cleanse, map and segment customer data to support targeting, migration readiness and broader portfolio initiatives.
• Make sure data is accurate through validation checks, issue triage and clear documentation of definitions, assumptions and methodology.
• Track and report performance KPIs and portfolio outcomes (e.g. deposit growth, account usage and spend, customer engagement), calling out drivers, trends and opportunities.
• Work with squad stakeholders to turn business questions into dashboard requirements, practical insights and prioritised enhancement backlogs.
• Produce short business updates and insight packs to support decision-making and portfolio priorities.
• Problem solving: Creative problem-solving and a client-first approach to customer insights when opportunities and challenges come up.
• Team contributor: Pulls their weight in the team, helps clear obstacles and moves the team toward its goals.

What will you bring?

• The ability to analyse data and get to the 'so what' to solve real business problems, using whatever tools or methods get the job done, from SQL and dashboards through to first-principles thinking.
• 3+ years' experience in data analytics, performance reporting and dashboard development (banking, financial services or customer engagement analytics preferred).
• Strong SQL skills (required), including building reliable data pipelines and queries and reconciling multiple data sources.
• Experience in data visualisation and dashboarding (Qlik, Tableau, Power BI), including report performance and publishing and governance practices.
• Python or similar tooling for analysis and automation highly regarded.
• Understanding of deposits, transaction banking or broader financial services products, and how customer data supports engagement and growth strategies.
• Comfortable working independently: able to understand unclear requirements, ask the right questions and structure an approach without heavy oversight.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, and confident working with business and technical stakeholders to clarify requirements, explain results and get things actioned.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, with the ability to tell a clear story through data (KPI packs, commentary, visualisations).
• High attention to detail and a data governance mindset, with experience putting validation controls in place and maintaining metric definitions.
• A background in credit card, payments, or broader banking and financial services is essential — candidates without this experience will not be considered.
