The Workforce Futures branch in JSA supports employment, education and training policy objectives and the resolution of workforce challenges through extensive analysis of the Australian labour market and skills system. The branch also looks to fill evidence gaps and provide data, analysis, research and advice to strengthen inclusive participation in the labour market and skills system, particularly for people who experience disadvantage or face barriers to participation.
The Skills Supply and Demand Modelling team in the Workforce Futures branch is developing a modelling framework to answer key questions facing the Australian economy. These include:
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the APS6 Data Analyst is responsible for identifying, obtaining and analysing a range of data sources and methodologies.
The work may include technical aspects including consideration of inconsistencies between datasets, how the survey methodologies and data uncertainties affect the ability of different sources to be integrated in a modelling environment, and the level of disaggregation that can be safely applied to a dataset for different purposes.
