Job summary

The Union Dairy Company in Penola, SA, is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee daily operations, ensure safety and quality, and lead a motivated team in a state-of-the-art dairy facility.

We require a minimum of two years in a supervisory role within manufacturing or food processing, with strong WHS and quality system knowledge. You will coordinate schedules, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining accurate records and strong team culture.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Manufacturing, Food Processing, Engineering, or a related discipline (desirable).
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a Production Supervisor or similar leadership role within manufacturing or food processing.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills with the ability to lead by example.
• Sound knowledge of WHS, food safety, quality systems, and production processes.
• Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily production operations to meet targets, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Lead, coach, and support production employees while fostering a positive team culture and ensuring adequate staffing.
• Monitor production performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency, minimise downtime, and reduce waste.
• Ensure compliance with WHS, food safety, quality standards, GMP, and company policies.
• Monitor milk solids retention, production losses, and product yields while identifying opportunities to improve process efficiency and minimise waste.
• Coordinate production schedules with maintenance and other departments to maximise plant reliability.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives through problem-solving, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate production records, inventory, and shift handover documentation.
