Job summary

DT & MALEE is seeking a motivated Dairy Cattle Farm Operator to manage milking processes and routine farm tasks across regional Victoria. The role requires working autonomously, with a focus on reliable, cost-effective dairy farm operations and collaborating with team members.

The successful candidate will read instruments, monitor milk temperatures, maintain machinery, and contribute to high standards of safety and efficiency on site.

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate II or III (or equivalent) and relevant experience.
• Minimum of 1 year work experience in the field.

Responsibilities

• Operate milking plant and equipment.
• Identify and report equipment not operating normally.
• Work co-operatively as part of a team.
• Read and record instrument information such as milk vat temperatures and cow numbers.
• Maintain machinery and perform adjustments.
• Solve problems and make decisions within guidelines.
• Operate computerised systems using menu options.
• Work with minimal supervision.

The successful applicant will be a motivated, driven and skilled Dairy Cattle Farm Operator who is able to work autonomously and take direction well.

• Operate milking plant and equipment;
• Identify and report equipment not operating normally;
• Work co-operatively as part of a team;
• Read and record instrument information i.e. Milk vat temperatures and cow numbers; and understands the principles of safe working;
• Undertake multiple functions, produce a quality outcome e.g. Farm machinery;
• Maintain machinery, undertake adjustments and size changes;
• Solve problems and make decisions within given guidelines;
• Know general scientific terminology and assist with processes such as machine repair, artificial insemination, fertiliser mix design etc.;
• Operate standard measuring equipment;
• Operate computerised systems using menu options;
• Contribute to the team in a specific role, providing input and assisting other team members; and
• Work at times without supervision.
