Job summary

Kinexus is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer for a 6-month contract in Australia. This role targets an advanced autonomous systems program, designing security architectures across mission hardware, software, data links, and ground control stations.You will perform system-level threat modelling, apply MBSE tooling, and secure the entire kill-chain from embedded devices to ICT infrastructure. A engineering degree and a recognized security qualification are highly desirable.

6-Month Contract

The Opportunity

Don\'t just secure the perimeter, shape the platform. We\'re looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer to join an advanced autonomous systems program at a pivotal moment, on a 6-month contract. This isn\'t a corporate IT role - it\'s a Cyber Systems Engineering opportunity. You\'ll move beyond traditional network security to design and implement security architectures across an entire unmanned systems ecosystem: mission systems hardware and avionics, software and firmware, critical data links, and ground-based control stations.

The Challenge

As part of a high-tempo development program, you won\'t be securing legacy systems - you\'ll be influencing the design of one of the region\'s most advanced autonomous platforms from the ground up. You\'ll tackle the complex intersection of security with embedded systems, software, and autonomy, ensuring the platform can perform its mission in contested environments.

Your Impact

• Performing system-level threat modelling to identify and mitigate risks from concept design through operational employment.
• Use MBSE tooling and requirements management platforms to derive and implement rigorous security requirements based on relevant industry compliance frameworks.
• Secure the entire kill-chain, including software, mission computers, data links, and the ground-based supporting ICT infrastructure such as ground control stations, labs, and software development environments.
• Leverage AI-driven systems engineering tools to model threat surfaces, map data flows, and trace security requirements against operational mission threads.

What You Bring

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Software, or similar, such as Computer Science). An industry-recognised information security qualification (CISSP, CRISC, CISM, or similar) is highly desirable.
• A passion for solving complex, multi-disciplinary problems where cyber meets physical autonomy.
• Proficiency in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies using industry-standard tools (e.g., a MBSE modelling tool such as Cameo/MagicDraw or Enterprise Architect, and a requirements management tool such as DOORS).

The Environment

• Contract Length - 6 months.
• Location - Brisbane or Newcastle
• Security Clearance - NV1 is required at a minimum
