Talent in Canberra is seeking Cyber Security Consultants to join our growing technology team supporting enterprise and government clients. We welcome candidates at various levels, from security engineers moving into consulting to experienced consultants who can lead technical work with clients.

You'll work across client environments to design, implement and improve cyber security services, including technical advice, security engineering, workshops, and ongoing service delivery.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Cyber Security Consultant - Multiple Levels

We are looking for Cyber Security Consultants to join a growing technology consulting team supporting enterprise and government clients. We're open to people at different stages of their cyber career, from security engineers ready to move into consulting through to experienced consultants who can lead technical work with clients.

You'll need a good understanding of networking and security, strong communication skills, and hands-on experience with at least one relevant security technology. Training is available for the right person.

Location: Canberra
Work model: Hybrid - 2 days in the office, 3 days remote
Working rights: Australian citizenship required
Clearance: Must have NV1 Clearance

About the role

You will work across different client environments, helping to design, implement and improve cyber security services. The work may include technical advice, security engineering, customer workshops and support for ongoing service delivery. The role includes an on-call component, with allowances provided.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical security advice to customers and internal teams
• Take part in customer meetings and technical workshops, leading them as your experience allows
• Support security reviews, solution design and implementation planning
• Help resolve security incidents and technical issues
• Support upgrades, new implementations, policy tuning and service improvements
• Identify opportunities to improve or automate security processes
• Keep up to date with security threats and technology developments

Skills and experience

• Experience in security engineering, consulting, network security or technical security support
• A sound understanding of IP networking and security principles
• Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
• SSE or ZTNA tools such as Zscaler or Netskope
• Firewalls such as Fortinet or Palo Alto
• Web application security tools such as F5 or Imperva
• Vulnerability scanning tools such as Tenable or Rapid7
• Microsoft security tools, Sentinel, Defender or similar
• The ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• An interest in developing your security design and consulting skills
• Experience with security frameworks such as ISO 2701, NIST, CIS Benchmarks or the ASD Essential Eight would be useful. We're also interested in people with deeper design, architecture or customer-facing experience.
