Job summary

Kinexus Australia is seeking an experienced Cortex security consultant to lead Cortex deployments and guide customers from data onboarding to threat detection engineering and incident response.

The role is hands-on, customer-facing and requires a vendor-agnostic approach to SOC operations, with preference for candidates holding NV1 clearance and based in Canberra.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in a security/SOC role.
• Vendor-agnostic Incident Response, Threat Detection Engineering, and SOC PPT across XSIAM deployments.
• Experience guiding customers through data source onboarding, correlation tuning, and high-level incident response processes.
• Ability to translate security expertise into Cortex-specific implementations.
• NV1 clearance preferred; Canberra-based or eligible.

Cortex Consultant

Location: Canberra (NV1 clearance preferred) - Australian Citizens also considered

Engagement: Contract | 6-month and 12-month terms available

About The Role

We are partnering with a Specialist consultancy to deliver Cortex implementations. We're looking for an experienced security consultant to join these engagements, bringing deep SOC and SIEM expertise to guide customers through the full spectrum of deploymenst - from data onboarding to threat detection engineering and incident response.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role suited to someone who can speak confidently and vendor-agnostically about modern SOC operations, and who is comfortable translating that expertise into a Cortex-specific implementation.

Baseline Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 5 years in a relevant security/SOC role.
• Core Knowledge: Confident, vendor-agnostic understanding of Incident Response, Threat Detection Engineering, and SOC People, Process & Technology (PPT). This foundational knowledge is essential across all phases of an XSIAM deployment.

Technical Skills

SOC Architecture

• Solid foundational understanding of typical SOC technology stacks - SIEM, EDR, SOAR - and how they interact with other security devices.

SIEM Background

• Strong background in SIEM threat detection and deployment.
• Priority given to candidates with deep experience in data source onboarding, data models, correlation, and threat detection engineering.
• Strong conceptual experience from any major SIEM platform is acceptable - Cortex-specific experience is not mandatory.

Guidance & Implementation

• Proven ability to deploy and manage SIEM platforms.
• Experience guiding customers through data source onboarding, correlation tuning, high-level incident response processes, and the broader threat spectrum.

Endpoint Security (Highly Preferred)

• Hands-on experience with endpoint security tooling.

Automation / SOAR (Highly Preferred)

• XSOAR playbook development experience, along with a programming background.

Cortex Expertise (Preferred)

• Prior hands-on experience as a Cortex consultant is the ideal profile.

Clearance & Location

• Preference for candidates holding an NV1 security clearance and based in Canberra) other locations can be considered).
• Australian citizens without current clearance will also be considered.
