Job summary

LAS - Laboratoire d'anthropologie sociale in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, is seeking a Cyber Security Analyst for a part-time, remote/flexible position. You will support security monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management while collaborating with IT, Infrastructure, Development, and Operations teams.

The role offers hands-on exposure to modern security technologies and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Cybersecurity, IT, CS, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, network security, access control, and common threats.
  • Familiarity with SIEM, EDR, vulnerability-scanning, or security-monitoring tools advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs, and network security concepts.
  • Experience with Windows, Linux, cloud environments, and security technologies is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor security alerts, events, and potential threats.
  • Investigate suspicious activities and security incidents.
  • Assist with incident response, investigation, and documentation.
  • Review security logs and identify unusual patterns or behaviors.
  • Support vulnerability scanning, assessment, and remediation activities.
  • Assist with endpoint, network, cloud, and application security monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate security records, incident reports, and documentation.
  • Support access-control reviews and user-permission management.
  • Assist with security assessments and risk-analysis activities.
  • Monitor threat intelligence and emerging cybersecurity risks.
  • Support security awareness and internal security initiatives.
  • Work with IT, Infrastructure, Development, and Operations teams.
  • Assist with security policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Recommend improvements to security monitoring and operational processes.

The Role
