Job summary

Alcoa of Australia Ltd is seeking a Security Advisor to protect our technology, systems and operations. You will provide tactical and operational cybersecurity leadership across IT and OT, help shape secure technology solutions, and support risk management and compliance programs across the organisation.

You will collaborate with IT, engineering and business teams, influences secure-by-design outcomes, and contribute to Cloud Security, IAM, Zero Trust and data protection initiatives across

Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in cybersecurity, information security, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of frameworks including NIST, CIS, ISO 27001 and relevant standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide cybersecurity guidance and assurance for system implementations, upgrades and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Review and influence secure architecture across IT, cloud, OT, ICSS/SCADA and IoT environments.
  • Conduct threat modelling, security design reviews and cyber risk assessments.

About the Role

Play a critical role in protecting the technology, systems and operations that power our business. As a Security Advisor, you'll work at the intersection of cybersecurity, operational technology, digital transformation, and risk management, helping to ensure our IT and operational environments remain secure, resilient, and compliant. This is an exciting opportunity to influence enterprise-wide security outcomes while partnering with technical teams, operational leaders, and business stakeholders to enable innovation securely. Reporting within our Cybersecurity team, you will provide tactical and operational cybersecurity leadership across IT and Operational Technology environments. Acting as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, you'll help shape secure technology solutions, manage cyber risk, strengthen governance practices, and support compliance obligations across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide cybersecurity guidance and assurance for system implementations, upgrades, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Review and influence secure architecture across IT, cloud, OT, ICSS/SCADA, and IoT environments.
  • Conduct threat modelling, security design reviews, and cyber risk assessments to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Support strategic cybersecurity programs including Cloud Security, Zero Trust, Identity & Access Management, Data Protection, and AI Governance.
  • Drive cyber risk management, incident response preparedness, post-incident reviews, and continuous security improvement initiatives.
  • Advise on security policies, standards, governance frameworks, and regulatory compliance while partnering with IT, engineering, operational, and business teams to foster a strong security culture and secure-by-design outcomes.

What you can bring to the role
  • Degree-qualified in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline, with significant experience in cybersecurity, information security, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated expertise across multiple cybersecurity domains, such as Cloud Security, Identity & Access Management (IAM), Zero Trust, Data Protection/DLP, and AI Governance, supported by strong knowledge of frameworks including NIST, CIS, ISO 27001 and relevant compliance standards.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic security advice, manage cyber risk, support incident response activities, and influence secure outcomes across complex and decentralized business environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership skills, with experience collaborating across IT, operations, engineering, business leadership, vendors, and external partners while maintaining high ethical standards and confidentiality.
  • Preferred experience includes industrial or manufacturing environments, enterprise transformation programs, cybersecurity strategy and governance, vendor risk management, and professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM or CRISC.
  • Flexibility to work as part of a global team, including occasional participation in meetings outside standard business hours to support stakeholders across multiple time zones, with some regional travel may be required.
