Job summary

The Department of Housing and Works, Katanning, is seeking a proactive Customer Services Officer to join a team delivering first-class customer service for housing access across Western Australia. You will engage with customers face to face, by phone and in writing, supporting tenancy services and bond assistance within a government portfolio.

Applicants should be team-oriented with strong communication and problem-solving skills; training is provided and basic software (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Salary/Level: Level 2, $79,604 - $85,350 pa, PSCSAA 2024

About The Role:

The Customer Services Officer works as part of a team to deliver a first class customer service which aims to ensure that all eligible Western Australians have access to affordable and secure housing. This position reports to a Manager within a Region as part of the Department of Housing and Works (DHW) Housing Service Delivery portfolio. There is ongoing contact with staff at a range of levels and daily contact with customers face to face, by phone and in writing. Housing Service Delivery is DHW's rental accommodation portfolio managing approximately 39,000 tenancies across the State, Government Regional Officers Housing (GROH) and Community Housing (rental housing managed by local Government or non-Government not-for-profit organisations) and bond assistance (interest-free loans to obtain accommodation in the private rental market) with close links to Aboriginal Housing services. The Agency also has a strong focus on providing home ownership opportunities to public housing tenants.

About You:

Department of Housing and Works, Katanning are seeking an enthusiastic individual who has strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills. You must be able to work as part of a team and hold positive, client focused outcomes in high regard. Full training will be provided but you must be confident and capable in using computer based software such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

To be considered for the role, applicants must be living in Katanning or prepared to relocate to the area.

Currently there is one (1) full-time, fixed-term appointment available until the 29 June 2029, with the possibility of further extension(s) and/or permanency. Whilst this selection process will initially be used to appoint to this advertised vacancy, it may also be used to appoint to similar positions that may arise in Katanning within the next twelve (12) months on a full-time, part-time, permanent or fixed-term basis with the possibility of further extension(s) and/or permanency.
