Job description

Northside Christian College was established in 1985 to provide an education that is academically excellent and spiritually wholesome for local Christian families. Over forty years later, Northside is now a leading private, co-educational, non-denominational Brisbane Christian college in Everton Park. We offer Christ-centred education from Prep to Year 12 on one campus. The College has become respected for strong academic outcomes, commitment to character development, sporting spirit and passionate community service.

Are you passionate about inspiring curiosity, developing great teachers and helping students discover the wonder of Science? Join our team as Curriculum Leader – Middle School Science and play an important role in shaping engaging learning experiences and supporting student growth.

At Northside Christian College, we are committed to providing a Christ-centred education that nurtures students academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally. This is an opportunity to combine your passion for Science with educational leadership, mentoring teachers and contributing to the continued growth and development of our College.

The Heart of this Role
  • Lead learning and inspire curiosity – shape engaging, innovative Science curriculum and assessment that challenges students to think critically, explore and achieve their potential.
  • Grow and empower teachers – mentor colleagues, share best practice and foster a collaborative culture of professional learning and continuous improvement.
  • Shaping who our students become – contribute to a Christ-centred learning community where relationships, care and a commitment to excellence are central to everything we do and above all we value who our students become.
About the Role

As Curriculum Leader – Middle School Science, you will provide educational leadership across the subject area, supporting high-quality teaching and learning, positive student outcomes and the professional growth of your colleagues. Working closely with the Head of Teaching & Learning and the Curriculum Leader – Senior School Science, you will help shape engaging curriculum and foster a collaborative culture of continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead curriculum development and innovation: develop, implement and review Science curriculum, teaching strategies and assessment practices to support student growth and achievement.
  • Support and develop teachers: mentor colleagues, provide constructive feedback, contribute to performance appraisals and coordinate relevant professional learning.
  • Monitor student learning: oversee assessment and reporting processes, evaluate student progress and implement strategies that respond to diverse learning needs.
  • Contribute to College strategy: align subject‑area priorities with the College’s vision, values and educational philosophy, providing advice on curriculum developments and emerging practices.
  • Build strong community relationships: foster positive partnerships with students, parents, colleagues and external educational bodies to enhance learning and wellbeing.
  • Manage resources and compliance: oversee curriculum budgets and resources, maintain accurate records and ensure alignment with College policies and regulatory requirements.
About You

You are an enthusiastic Science educator who is ready to lead, encourage and develop others.

You will bring:

  • A commitment to Christian education and a genuine and active alignment with the Christian mission, values, and ethos of the College.
  • Relevant teaching qualifications and current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching Science at a Middle or Senior School level.
  • Proven leadership experience and the ability to mentor, support and develop teaching colleagues.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student learning requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative and growth‑oriented mindset.
  • Most importantly, you will be a committed Christian who is passionate about using your leadership and expertise to make a positive difference within the College and wider community.
