Job summary

St John of God Geelong Hospital invites applications for Registered Nurses to undertake a Critical Care Post Graduate Course while working in a 12-month fixed-term, part-time position (30 hours per week). The program spans Intensive Care, Coronary Care and Emergency Department with Deakin University collaboration and on-site clinical support.

You will contribute to patient-centred care, participate in education and competency assessments, and develop specialist knowledge under experienced

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
• At least 2 years of acute medical/surgical experience; ICU/HDU or ED experience advantageous.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to evidence-based practice.
• Interest in developing a career in Intensive Care, Coronary Care or Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to meet outcomes in line with hospital policies and Care Paths.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team for assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care.
• Develop clinical knowledge in management of critically and acutely unwell patients.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and multidisciplinary team members.
• Identify, assess and respond to changes in a patient’s clinical condition.
• Demonstrate accountability for own nursing practice and maintain professional standards.
• Engage in education, competency assessments and professional development related to the postgraduate course.
