Job summary

St John of God Geelong Hospital is seeking passionate Registered Nurses to join the Coronary Care Unit on a casual basis, delivering high-quality, patient-centred cardiac care. You will apply clinical assessment and monitoring skills within a collaborative multidisciplinary team and provide documentation, handover and education to patients and families.

The role requires current AHPRA registration with recent acute/cardiac care experience.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
• Recent clinical experience in acute care settings.
• Cardiac/Coronary Care Unit experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

Your Position at St John of God Geelong Hospital

We are seeking passionate and motivated Registered Nurses to join our Coronary Care Unit (CCU) on a casual basis, providing high-quality care to patients requiring specialised cardiac monitoring and treatment.

This is a great opportunity to join an experienced and supportive team within a dynamic clinical environment, caring for patients with a range of cardiac conditions. The Position

Provides direct, comprehensive nursing care to patients within the Coronary Care Unit, in accordance with established hospital policies, procedures and clinical guidelines.

Undertakes comprehensive patient assessments, recognising and responding promptly to changes in clinical condition and escalating care where required.

Monitors patients with acute and complex cardiac conditions, supporting safe and effective care throughout their admission.

Demonstrates sound clinical judgement and prioritisation when managing patient care in a specialised cardiac environment.

Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.

Maintains effective communication and positive working relationships with nursing colleagues, medical staff, patients and their families.

Provides clear and timely clinical handover and maintains accurate patient documentation.

Supports patient and family education, discharge planning and ongoing care needs.

Ensures infection prevention and control policies and procedures are understood and consistently implemented in clinical practice.

Maintains professional accountability and practices in accordance with relevant legislation, professional standards and hospital policies.

About You

You will hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, with recent clinical experience in an acute care setting. Previous experience in a Coronary Care Unit, Cardiac Care Unit or other specialised cardiac environment will be highly regarded.

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate strong clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills, sound clinical judgement and the ability to recognise and respond to changes in a patient's condition. You will have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.
