Green Light Worldwide, based in Brisbane CBD, is seeking a Cost Controller with energy/utility industry experience to join our team. You will provide end-to-end cost control, forecasting, and financial support across multiple projects in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities include monthly accruals, month-end forecasts, variance analysis, and maintaining cost books in SharePoint, with close collaboration with Project Managers and Finance to ensure accurate reporting and governance.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in cost control for large corporate groups.
  • Proven energy/utilities industry background.
  • Experience in project cost control, forecasting and accruals.
  • Strong governance knowledge on AFE/WBS.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and data accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Complete monthly accrual process by Finance deadlines.
  • Prepare and submit month-end forecasts.
  • Deliver month-end reporting including variance reports.
  • Lead monthly meetings with Project Managers on accruals and forecasts.
  • Analyze cost variances with root causes.
  • Maintain monthly Cost Books in SharePoint.
  • Create PRs and POs for projects.
  • Support AFE submissions for funding approvals.
  • Manage PO and project closures and capitalisation.
  • Update AFE and WBS registers.
  • Ensure high data accuracy.

Green Light Australiaare looking to engage a Cost Controller with energy/utility industry experience to join their team. You will provide end‑to‑end cost control, forecasting, and financial support.

Responsibilities
  • Complete the monthly accrual process in line with Finance deadlines
  • Prepare and submit month-end forecasts by the required deadlines
  • Deliver month-end reporting, including Finance variance reports
  • Facilitate monthly meetings with Project Managers to obtain the most up-to-date information on accruals, trends, forecasts, and attend other regular meetings as required.
  • Analyse and clearly articulate monthly cost variances, including root causes and drivers.
  • Maintain complete and up-to-date monthly Cost Books, ensuring they are accurately saved in SharePoint.
  • Create or facilitate Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs) for assigned projects or functional areas.
  • Support Project Managers in the preparation and submission of Authorisation For Expenditures (AFE) to enable timely funding approval and release.
  • Manage PO and project closures to support strong financial housekeeping and enable Finance to capitalise projects accurately.
  • Maintain and update AFE and WBS registers
  • Ensure a high level of data accuracy
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in similar role as a Cost Controller for large corporate companies
  • Proven experience working within the energy/utilities industry
  • Proven experience in project cost control, forecasting, and accruals
  • Strong understanding of AFE (Authorisation For Expenditure) / WBS / project financial governance
  • Prove experience working on large projects
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with liaising with Project Managers and Finance
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, Excel, and document control tools (e.g. SharePoint)
  • Exceptional communication skills
