Position: Corporate Biochemistry QA Officer

Location: Bowen Hills, Brisbane, QLD

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a committed and experienced scientific professional who thrives in a collaborative and dynamic laboratory setting. In this important role, you will play a key part in supporting consistent and high-quality testing outcomes by providing quality assurance support across SNP's Biochemistry operations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Internal Quality Control: Oversight of QC targets, troubleshooting support, and Biorad Unity assistance.
  • External Quality Assurance: Lead corporate reviews, education, and annual enrolment planning. Coordinate sample exchange programs, international enrolments, and manage permit processes.
  • Lab Support: Act as a primary contact for regional and local site troubleshooting, provide QC support, conduct audits, and deliver educational presentations.
  • Method Evaluation: Oversee the evaluation and implementation of new instruments or methodologies.
  • Corporate Quality Reporting: Prepare monthly quality reports and contribute to corporate surveillance activities in line with NATA standards across all SNP sites.
  • External Supplier Management: Coordinate calibrator lot reviews and manage reagent and instrument changes.

The role includes standard rostered hours between 7am and 6pm, with flexibility for travel and adjusted hours as needed.

What we are looking for

You’ll be a passionate scientific professional with a proactive mindset and strong commitment to continuous quality improvement. We're looking for someone who brings:

  • A degree or higher qualification in Science, Applied Science, Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent
  • At least 5 years' experience in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Demonstrated ability to apply advanced theoretical knowledge to practical situations
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Previous experience in internal/external QC/QA or auditing (highly regarded)

Familiarity with high-throughput analyser operation and troubleshooting (desirable)
