Job summary

Netflix Animation Studios in Sydney seeks a Core Assets Technical Director to own the pipeline tooling for modeling, rigging and surfacing of characters and environments.

You will design and maintain core technology, develop robust code, and troubleshoot workflows in partnership with Solutions Engineering and R&D, while mentoring junior TDs and driving QA.

The role is hybrid with three days in the office weekly in Sydney.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of OpenUSD and its architecture
• Experience with Maya and Houdini and their APIs
• Solid Python expertise and data workflow knowledge
• Knowledge of asset management systems and publishing/validation
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub and code review processes
• Degree in Animation/Film/CS/Design/Engineering or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Own the pipeline troubleshooting, tool development, and artist support for Modelling, Rigging, and Surfacing of Characters and Environments
• Design, develop and maintain high-quality, maintainable code
• Lead technical direction for Modelling, Rigging, and Surfacing
• Troubleshoot workflows in partnership with TDs, Solutions Engineers and R&D
• Mentor junior team members and drive pipeline efficiency
• Support QA, testing and validation of new tools and pipeline changes
