Harvest Recruitment invites an experienced Coordinator Statutory Planning in a regional Victorian Shire to lead the delivery of the statutory planning function, provide technical leadership, and guide the team in complex matters. You will work with Councillors, applicants, and the community, represent Council at VCAT and other forums, and shape how the service evolves while developing staff.
Located about two hours from Melbourne, the role offers a regional lifestyle with meaningful leadership
This progressive peri-regional Victorian Council offers the opportunity to build your local government career in a regional setting, while remaining genuinely connected to major centres. Located approximately two hours from Melbourne, one hour from Geelong and 80 minutes from Ballarat, it offers an attractive alternative for an experienced local government professional either wanting to move from the City or someone considering a move from a more remote location. You’ll join a values-led organisation with a strong focus on responsive service, collaboration and continuous improvement.
As Coordinator Statutory Planning, you’ll lead the delivery of Council’s statutory planning function, providing technical leadership and direction to the team while overseeing complex and significant planning matters. You’ll provide authoritative planning advice, guide sound and consistent decision‑making, represent Council at VCAT and other statutory forums, and work closely with Councillors, applicants, community members and internal stakeholders. Importantly, you’ll also have the opportunity to develop your team and influence how the service continues to evolve and improve.
You’ll be an experienced statutory planning professional with a tertiary qualification in town planning or a related discipline and substantial experience gained within local government. You’ll bring strong technical planning knowledge, sound professional judgement and the confidence to navigate complex or contentious matters. Just as importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys developing others, building constructive relationships and creating a capable, accountable team. Formal people leadership experience is welcomed, although strong technical leaders and mentors ready to step into broader leadership are also encouraged to apply.
Harvest Recruitment is proud to be an equal opportunity employer who values the contributions that a diverse workforce can bring to our community. Harvest Recruitment offers reasonable adjustments for applicants with disabilities on request.
