Job summary

Deakin University is seeking a Coordinator, Primary Prevention to advance gender-based violence prevention and equity initiatives across campuses such as Geelong and Burwood. The role sits within the Equity & Inclusion team and drives education, engagement and policy-aligned activities.

You will lead projects from planning through delivery, collaborating with academic and professional units to embed best practice prevention approaches, with a focus on creating respectful, inclusive campus

Qualifications

• Degree in education, social work, public health, behavioural science, psychology, or related field.
• Strong experience in program and project management in a complex organisation.
• Knowledge of primary prevention approaches related to gender-based violence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver education, awareness and engagement initiatives that promote respectful, inclusive and safe environments
• Support the implementation of strategic prevention activities aligned with national reforms and legislative requirements
• Lead and coordinate projects from planning through to delivery and evaluation

We're seeking a passionate and experienced Coordinator, Primary Prevention to play a key role in advancing initiatives that prevent gender-based violence, promote gender equity, and foster a culture of respect across our campuses.

Working closely within the Equity & Inclusion team, you'll lead and support a range of prevention, education and engagement initiatives aligned with the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence and the Department of Education Action Plan.

The role at a glance:

Who we’re looking for:

• You're a collaborative and proactive professional who is passionate about driving positive social change. You bring a balance of strategic thinking, project management expertise and exceptional stakeholder engagement skills.
• Degree in education, social work, public health, behavioural science, psychology, or related field, with demonstrated relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse and tailor training and education programs to suit a wide range of audiences.
• Strong experience in program and project management and delivery within a complex organisation.
• Demonstrated contemporary knowledge of primary prevention approaches in the areas of sexual harm, family violence, and gendered violence.
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build productive relationships and influence outcomes across academic, professional and leadership groups
• Understanding of gender-based violence prevention frameworks and the higher education sector, including the National Higher Education Code, is desirable but not essential.
