Job summary

Supporting this work is a dedicated placements team responsible for creating and coordinating high-quality placement experiences for our students and building strong partnerships with the organisations that support them.

We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Placements Coordinator to help lead this important work. Working closely with the Placement and Partnerships Team Leader, you will coordinate placement operations, support and guide staff, strengthen relationships with industry partners and help us continually improve the way placements are delivered across the School.

Job Description

Are you someone who enjoys bringing people, processes and partnerships together to make complex operations work well?

As Coordinator Placements, you will provide operational leadership and coordination across a diverse portfolio of student placements and Work Integrated Learning activities. You will work closely with professional and academic staff, students and external partners to ensure placements are well planned, responsive and delivered to a high standard.

In this role, you will:

• Coordinate the planning, allocation and administration of placements and Work Integrated Learning opportunities across the School
• Provide day‑to‑day leadership, guidance and support to placement staff, helping build a collaborative and high‑performing team
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with placement providers, industry partners and other key stakeholders
• Provide informed advice to students, academic staff and external partners on placement processes, requirements and complex matters
• Monitor placement requirements and compliance obligations and support accreditation activities across relevant disciplines
• Use data, reporting and business systems to identify trends, support planning and inform decision‑making
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve services and strengthen the student and partner experience
• Contribute to projects and initiatives designed to increase placement capacity and support the School's future workforce needs.

About You

You are a capable and collaborative professional who enjoys making complex operations work. Highly organised and solutions‑focused, you can see both the detail required to deliver placements successfully and the bigger picture of how strong placement partnerships contribute to student success and workforce development. You are a confident relationship builder who communicates well with different audiences and knows how to establish trust with students, colleagues and external partners. When challenges arise, you remain calm, exercise sound judgement and focus on finding practical solutions.

You will bring experience coordinating complex operational programs, placements, Work Integrated Learning, internships or comparable activities, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

You will also demonstrate:

• Experience supporting, coordinating or leading staff and contributing to a positive team culture
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
• Highly developed communication, negotiation and problem‑solving capabilities
• Confidence working with business systems, data and reporting to support informed decisions
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and service excellence
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or an equivalent combination of experience, skills and knowledge.

This is a continuing, full time position primarily based at Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi‑site university you may be required to work across other locations.

Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 6 range $94,966 - $101,295 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $111,110 - $118,515 per annum.
