Job summary

Wingecarribee Shire Council is seeking an experienced Coordinator Library Services to lead across the Southern Highlands. Reporting to the Manager Community Life and Libraries, you will oversee facilities, collections, programs and partnerships to deliver responsive, customer-focused services that support literacy and community connection.

You will manage day-to-day operations, guide a professional team, handle budgets and grants, and drive service improvements in a dynamic regional library

Qualifications

  • Degree or post-graduate qualification in Library and Information Management or equivalent providing eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.
  • Substantial experience in leading, coordinating and delivering contemporary public library services, including operational planning, service delivery, workforce leadership and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, customer focus and workplace safety
  • Well-developed capability in service planning, project coordination, policy development and the implementation of service improvements and change initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget management, resource planning, procurement and the identification and management of grant funding opportunities.
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary public library practice and emerging sector trends, including collections, digital services, literacy and lifelong learning initiatives, community engagement and customer experience.
  • Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships and work collaboratively across the organisation and community.
  • Well-developed analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret information, prepare reports and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of contemporary library services, including physical and digital services, customer experience, facilities, technology and service innovation.
  • Deliver high-quality collections, programs, outreach and information services that support literacy, lifelong learning, inclusion and access to knowledge.
  • Manage budgets, grants, contracts, projects and resources to ensure sustainable and effective service delivery.
  • Build strong partnerships and professional networks that enhance community outcomes and strengthen library services.
  • Lead, develop and support a capable and accountable workforce, fostering a positive culture and guiding teams through change.
  • Monitor service performance, customer feedback and emerging trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.

Salary: $126,352.78 - $146,842.34 per annum + 12% Superannuation
Rostering: The position operates across 6 days, with employees rostered to a combination of day and night desk shifts. Ability to work flexible hours is essential.

About the Role

As Coordinator Library Services, you'll report to the Manager Community Life and Libraries and lead a dedicated team responsible for delivering responsive, customer-focused and contemporary library services that support literacy, learning, inclusion and community connection. You will oversee library facilities, collections, programs, outreach services and partnerships, ensuring services continue to meet the evolving needs of our community. Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of Wingecarribee Libraries. You will:
