Coordinator Asset Accounting — Whitsunday Regional Council, Proserpine, Queensland
Permanent Full Time | Flexible Hybrid or Remote Options | salary range in line with above, plus superannuation
Whitsunday Regional Council is a progressive and community-focused local government serving one of Queensland's most iconic regions. The Finance team collaborates, performs, and innovates, and the council is recognised among the top three councils in the state for financial year-end closeout. The finance function emphasises teamwork, integrity, and continuous improvement, with staff empowered to own their work and drive positive change.
The Coordinator Asset Accounting is responsible for managing the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of Council's asset register and related financial systems. Reporting to the Manager Strategic Finance, you will oversee all aspects of asset accounting including revaluations, capitalisations, disposals, and work in progress.
You will partner with asset managers and project teams to ensure assets are recognised, valued, and reported in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards. You will lead the coordination of annual revaluations across multiple asset classes and provide expert advice to support sound financial management and audit compliance.
The role involves project work and continuous improvement initiatives, such as system upgrades, data transformation, and transitions to new systems. You will have the opportunity to mentor an emerging Accounting Officer who is developing toward future leadership within the team.
The position is primarily based in Proserpine, with flexibility for hybrid or remote arrangements. On-site presence is typically required twice per year, around the asset revaluation and end-of-financial-year periods.
This role offers professional challenge with lifestyle balance, a competitive salary plus superannuation, relocation assistance up to $8,000, a locality allowance, a nine-day fortnight, generous leave entitlements, and ongoing professional development opportunities including conferences and study support.
You will join a high-performing, award-winning finance team led by a manager who empowers people and values continuous improvement. Working in the Whitsundays provides a coastal lifestyle while contributing to meaningful community outcomes.
If you are ready to bring your technical expertise and collaborative approach to a role where you can make a real impact, we would love to hear from you.
