Popeye's Fish & Chips on Hamilton Island’s Marina is seeking an experienced Cook for a fast-paced takeaway kitchen. You’ll focus on seafood preparation and fryer operations to deliver consistent quality during peak service periods.

Join a busy team, work with fresh seafood, and help maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety while supporting efficient service for island guests.

Qualifications

• Experience as a cook in a commercial kitchen or takeaway outlet.
• Experience preparing and cooking seafood, especially fish and chips, highly regarded.
• Confident operating commercial fryers and managing multiple orders.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy, high-volume food service environment.
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe handling of food.

COOK - Popeye's Fish & Chips

Located in Hamilton Island's Marina , Popeye's Fish & Chips is a popular casual dining outlet serving classic fish and chips and takeaway favourites to guests enjoying island life. With a focus on fresh, consistently prepared meals and efficient service, it's a busy kitchen where teamwork and organisation are essential.

We're looking for an experienced Cook to join the Popeye's team. If you're confident working with seafood, enjoy fast-paced takeaway service and can maintain quality while managing a high volume of orders, this is a great opportunity to bring your cooking skills to one of Hamilton Island's casual dining venues.

What you'll be doing

You'll be hands-on preparing and cooking fish and chips and other takeaway menu items, with a strong focus on fryer operations, seafood preparation and maintaining consistent quality during busy service periods.

You'll manage your preparation, monitor cooking times and ensure orders are completed accurately and efficiently. Working closely with the team, you'll help maintain a clean, organised kitchen while following food safety and handling standards.

What we're looking for

• Previous experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen or takeaway food outlet
• Experience preparing and cooking seafood, particularly fish and chips, highly regarded
• Confidence operating commercial fryers and managing multiple orders
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy, high-volume food service environment
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling
• Good organisation, attention to detail and a positive team-focused attitude
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster based on operational requirements
